Rear Door Cargo Box
Installing a rear cargo box door can be confusing & time consuming. I’ve found it very easy to install an Owl Vans Sherpa Cargo Carrier along with an appropriately sized box. Own vans does sell their own boxes, but due to COVID their supply system was backed up.
I purchased a 24″x24″x24″ Buyer’s Product for $435+tax here:
Ratchet/Wrench/Adjustable pliers for 5/16″ bolts/nuts
5/16″ Galvanized Bolts
5/16″ Galvanized Nuts
5/16″ Galvanized Washes
At least 1/8″ aluminum bar stock
Drill bit for metals up to at least 5/16″
Line up the box to the appropriate mounting holes & mark
Drill all holes for appropriate sized bolts
Take aluminum bar, align holes & mark
Drill through holes for aluminum bar
Align box to mount & place in one bolt with metal washers, neoprene washers, & aluminum bar. DO NOT TIGHTEN.
Add additional hardware.
Add loctite & tighten all hardware.
Do not overload box past box & mount limits.
90 Degree angle supports can be added for more support.
